How Mooring works
What is Mooring
Mooring lets you buy any token on NEAR with native BTC, ETH, SOL and assets from 13 networks — and sell NEAR tokens back to them — without bridging anything yourself.
- Leg 1 — NEAR Intents. You send native coins to a one-time deposit address. NEAR Intents solvers deliver wNEAR, USDC or USDT (or the token itself, for “Direct” tokens) to your NEAR wallet.
- Leg 2 — Rhea. For long-tail tokens, you sign one swap on Rhea, NEAR's main DEX — directly or through one intermediate token (e.g. wNEAR → LINEAR → UMBRA).
Mooring never holds your funds. Deposits go to NEAR Intents, swaps run on Rhea's contracts, and every NEAR-side transaction is signed by your own wallet. The only wallet you connect is a NEAR wallet.
Buy with BTC, ETH or SOL
- On Swap, pick what you pay with: choose the network first, then the asset.
- Pick the NEAR token you want. Filter by origin network or paste its contract ID. Check the risk labels.
- Enter the amount. Connect your NEAR wallet — that's where the tokens land.
- Enter a refund address on the network you pay from. If anything fails, NEAR Intents refunds there.
- Review, then Get deposit address. Send the exact amount, in one transaction, on that network only — from any wallet or exchange.
- Track the order page. For “Via Mooring” tokens, once leg 1 lands you'll sign the leg-2 swap on the same page — re-quoted live, with your slippage limit.
Already hold NEAR, wNEAR, USDC or USDT on NEAR? Use Activity → Swap from your wallet — one signature, no deposit step.
Sell to BTC, ETH or SOL
- On Sell, pick the token — including NEAR itself (native NEAR is wrapped inside the same transaction; 0.05 NEAR stays in your wallet for gas).
- Pick what you receive (network, then asset) and the address to pay out to. Payouts to a wrong address can't be reversed.
- Tokens NEAR Intents accepts directly sell in one step. Other tokens first swap to wNEAR on Rhea (step 1); step 2 then sells exactly the wNEAR that swap produced — never wNEAR you already held.
- Get firm quote shows the minimum payout. Then sign one deposit to NEAR Intents from your NEAR wallet. It includes 0.00125 NEAR to register the deposit address and, the first time you sell native NEAR, another 0.00125 NEAR for your own wNEAR account (skipped and refunded when already registered).
- Sign once. After your wallet confirms, the deposit button locks while NEAR Intents picks the deposit up. A second deposit to the same address isn't sold — it's refunded to your NEAR account.
Fees
| Mooring fee | 0.25% | On the NEAR Intents leg of buys and sells, included in the quote you see. No Mooring fee on Activity → Swap from your wallet. |
| NEAR Intents | 0.25% + spread | NEAR Intents' own protocol fee, plus solver spread — both built into the leg-1 rate. |
| Payout network fee | fixed, per network | Sells only: the cost of sending to BTC, ETH, SOL… (e.g. ~0.000035 ETH on Ethereum, about $0.09). On very small sells it can be several percent — the quote shows what you receive. |
| Rhea pool fees | 0.05–0.3% / pool | Leg 2 only. Shown per route before you sign. |
| NEAR gas & registration | ~0.001 + 0.00125 NEAR | Gas per NEAR transaction; registration once per token you've never held. |
Example: buying a long-tail token with $100 of BTC through a two-pool route costs $0.25 Mooring fee, $0.25 NEAR Intents fee, about $0.35 in Rhea pool fees, plus solver spread and price impact. Every quote shows these lines before you commit.
Order status & timing
| Awaiting deposit | Send the exact amount before the deadline shown. |
| At sea | Deposit seen; NEAR Intents is executing leg 1. |
| Leg 1 moored | Base token is in your wallet — sign leg 2 on the order page. |
| Moored / Paid out | Done. Transaction links on the order page. |
| Incomplete | Less than the quoted amount arrived; NEAR Intents refunds it. |
| Refunded | Funds went back to your refund address (reason shown). |
| Expired | The deposit window closed before a deposit arrived. Don't send to that address. |
Typical leg-1 times after your deposit confirms: Bitcoin ~13 min · Ethereum ~1 min · Solana ~20 s · Base ~35 s · Arbitrum ~25 s · Optimism ~35 s · Avalanche ~40 s · Dogecoin ~2 min · Zcash ~8 min. Leg 2 is one signature and a few seconds.
Stuck? Paste your deposit transaction hash on the order page — it helps NEAR Intents pick it up faster. Bitcoin needs block confirmations, so ~10–20 minutes is normal.
Refunds & slippage
- Deadline. Each deposit address has a deadline. Funds sent after it may be lost — the order page counts it down.
- Wrong amount. Less than quoted → incomplete deposit, refunded to your refund address. Exchanges that subtract a withdrawal fee can cause this — send the exact amount.
- Leg 1 fails. NEAR Intents refunds to your refund address (buys) or your NEAR account (sells).
- Deposited twice. Only the quoted amount is swapped; an extra deposit to the same address is refunded (usually within a minute on NEAR).
- Leg 2 slippage. If the price moves past your limit, the swap reverts and your wNEAR/USDC stays in your wallet. Try again, raise slippage, or keep the base token.
- Wrong network or wrong asset sent to a deposit address can't be recovered.
Risks
- Long-tail tokens are volatile and can go to zero. Mooring lists every token with a Rhea pool and does not vet them.
- Thin liquidity means high price impact — check the estimate on each token page and in your quote.
- Lookalike symbols. Anyone can name a token “SOL” or “NEAR”. Mooring flags these; always check the contract ID.
- Third parties. Orders rely on NEAR Intents, Rhea's contracts, the Intear routing API (routes are checked against Rhea's own on-chain pricing before you sign) and bridges behind bridged tokens. Any of them can fail or pause.
- Nothing here is financial advice.
Mooring token
Mooring's native token, $MOOR, is fair-launched: no VCs, no team allocation, no presale, a fixed supply of 1,000,000,000 and liquidity locked for good. The team bought 4% at the opening price and burned all of it: 40,000,000 MOOR. Protocol revenue buys $MOOR back and burns it every week.

FAQ
Do I need to connect a Bitcoin, EVM or Solana wallet?
No. You send to a deposit address from any wallet or exchange, and type your refund / payout address. Only the NEAR wallet is connected.
Why two signatures for some tokens?
NEAR Intents can't deliver long-tail tokens directly. It delivers wNEAR or USDC; you sign one Rhea swap for the last mile. That way a bad price never executes silently.
NEAR or wNEAR?
NEAR is the native coin; wNEAR is the same value as a token that DEXs and NEAR Intents use. Mooring wraps native NEAR for you inside the same transaction.
Are there minimums?
Yes, set by NEAR Intents per network and they change. The asset picker shows known ones (e.g. BNB Chain and Polygon $1,000, TRON $100 as of Sep 2026); otherwise the quote tells you.
Where are my orders?
Each order has its own link. Activity lists orders from this device; sign a free message with your NEAR wallet to see your orders from any device.
Is the quote guaranteed?
Leg 1 has a minimum from NEAR Intents. Leg 2 is re-quoted when you sign and protected by your slippage limit on-chain.
